Synopsis:
In 1945, the Marines attack twelve thousand Japanese’s protecting the twenty square kilometers of the sacred Iwo Jima island in a very violent battle. When they reach the Mount Suribachi and six soldiers raise their flag on the top, the picture become a symbol in a post Great Depression America. The government brings the three survivors to America to raise funds of war, bringing hope to desolated people, and making the three men heroes of war. However, the traumatized trio has difficulties to deal with the image build by their superiors, sharing the heroism with their mates.

My Review:
It is very poor minus movie, with annoying plot cause spectators to be confused. Sometime it show the present time but suddenly it revert to past time and there are past time in a past time story and so on. For me, the plus is when it shows the combat zone, especially the plane battle in a cockpit mode, my favorite one. Flag of Our Father is a Saving Private Ryan similar or compact version of Band of Brothers but with difference sense; is war survivors can be named as a hero?

My Rating:

Director: Clint Eastwood
